Assignment #1: Bounce Flash
Setup

When we were first sent out of the room, I was generally very confused. I asked a few people for advice and then gave my best attempt, doing what I could, even if it was the wrong thing. I eventually realized I wouldn't have been happy with myself if I hadn't gotten the hang of it and given it my best try, knowing what I was doing.
I saw people finishing up, then going back to the room to grab their stuff before heading down to meet up and continue with the rest of our assignment. I stayed back and asked someone to help me in the best way they could, guiding me through the process of what was to be done for the assignment. Through trial and error, I decided to keep one of the first images I took in the hallway as my first bounce flash example, as it still turned out good for my first time using flash.
Moving to the second bound flash photo, I think I had a better idea of what I was supposed to be doing. I positioned Zoey in a corner where I figured the flash would bounce down the hallway and back. I think I was a bit too close to Zoey for the flash to bounce all the way down the side hallway, but the idea turned out well, and it made me feel better about what I was doing.
When it came to extreme bounce flash, after Jeff explained it against the engineering building, I knew exactly where I wanted to go. I took Zoey, and we went to the side of Moore Hall, where the equipment checkout door is from the outside. With a bit of a father subject to bounce the flash off, the flash needed to be full, so it was another learning curve trying to get the camera set for the flash and all that good stuff. Once we both got the hang of it, I believe we were able to capture some pretty cool shots and even experimented with moving the camera while setting the shutter speed to a very low setting to slow down the lights behind the subject, all while keeping the subject in focus.
