Reflection

This assignment, by far, took us the longest, from finding people willing to model and finding locations that weren't too far, but mine and Zoey's goals were accomplished with what we wanted. Going out the first time and not having a clear understanding of the assignment, we had to go out a second time and shoot again.

The second time we went out went a lot more smoothly, as Zoey and I had already had experience with shooting models and I had already done one location shoot prior. After shooting in front of a backdrop for this assignment, I feel a lot more comfortable lighting a backdrop and working around flaws that may be with wrinkles and blurring the background with the backdrop.

An issue Zoey and I both ran into was being able to light something outside and still make it look like it was lit, as our only times to meet with our models were during the daytime, when it is brightest. I feel like we made it work by turning the flashes onto full power and adjusting what we needed from there, turning the flashes to a lower power to achieve the right type of light on the subject.

This definitely was a learning curve, but I feel like we both succeeded very well, being able to actually show the flashes and give the pictures more dimension when being used. For future, I have most certainly made note that sand bags are important!! They came in very useful during the first shoot when it was very windy and we needed the flashes in odd spots to achieve the right angle glow I wanted.

I had a lot of fun during this assignment and now I really want to shoot during the night time and be able to use the flashes to their full potential.
