Assignment #3: Portable Studio Portrait

Reflection
Finding people for this assignment and reaching out to make a plan was probably the most challenging part of the assignment, but once we had a plan, it went relatively smoothly.
Zoey and I shot the bass fishing pictures first, and it went really well. We were able to set up the backdrop and utilize a variety of props to capture different and distinctive photos. The black was a good choice, as it made the subject pop and stand out well against the backdrop. There were a few poses that I had in mind that I wasn't able to execute, as I felt that I needed one more light or to adjust the light settings further to achieve the desired result.
When shooting the nursing pictures, it was a bit challenging to get different photos than Zoey, as we were limited on props. We also chose to use a grey backdrop for these photos to add variety to our images, as we have already shot on black and white. The grey backdrop we realized is a lot harder to blur and light to reduce the wrinkles. I did end up buying a steamer to try to help with this situation, but the steamer I bought did not work when trying to use it, so that plan fell through.
I think these photos came out a lot better than I expected, as I have never really spoken with a model one-on-one to try and pose them and things of that nature. One thing I will do in the future is familiarize myself with the subject matter I am shooting, whether that be sports, a hobby, or collectibles, so I have more poses to utilize the props.
